Harmonization of information management for improved knowledge and monitoring of the global environment in Georgia


The Project will reinvigorate the focus on the environment and sustainability in Georgia.

ESTiDAMA for Environment, as a lead expert on capacity development and project design, in close collaborating with the Government of Georgia, UNDP, and national consultants was responsible for the development of the Harmonization of information management for improved knowledge and monitoring of the global environment in Georgia project document.

The overall objective for the Project was the compilation of the documentation package for submission to GEF Secretariat. The package included; UNDP Project Document, GEF Request for CEO Endorsement, GEF Tracking Tool, Environmental and Social Screening Assessment and Package of co-financing letters

ESTiDAMA for Environment performed the following tasks and duties:

· Worked together with the local consultants (LC), UNDP and national counterparts on setting PPG implementation strategy;

· Finalized PPG work plan and design consultation and validation workshops.

· Overseed completion of background studies, ensuring they are appropriate in scope and provided required analyses;

· Facilitated and guided consultations to determine project strategy, priorities, key partners, and key barriers to success;

· Provided technical and professional support to the Local Consultants and national stakeholders.

· Developed the project strategy; detailed budget, work plan and logical framework, developed a replication strategy.

· Assumed main responsibility for finalizing the project document, with significant input from all local consultants.

· Looked for other key partners that the project might collaborate with and seek co-financing from.

 

The project involved, desk review of the relevant documents, missions to Georgia, consultations with key partners in National Government, responsible for environmental management as well as relevant sectoral ministries, and facilitation of project validation workshop.
